Collaborative working as well as agile working methodologies are becoming widely accepted in today’s workplaces.
Could resimercial design be on the rise? We look at how design can play a huge role in shaping how the future of working looks as staff look for a more culture focused environment.
Critics may raise concerns over staff abusing the privilege the true catalyst for this movement lies in trust and organisations giving the freedom of movement to their employees. Advances in technology is another reason why organisation are able to telecommute and collaborate remotely with employees.
This move away from allowing staff to work remotely has meant that some companies are embracing an office interior design style that makes the working environment more comfortable and ‘homely’. As a result, the term ‘Resimercial’ has surfaced and is becoming something more than a trend.
What is Resimercial Design?
In short it is a layout and furnishing style that brings the homely feel of residential furniture into the workplace. The design method mixes the sterile and standardised feel of corporate furnishing with fun residential features. The main goal behind this design and furnishing style is to make the workspace a welcoming, comfortable place to spend time, something employees especially those in the millennial generation are increasingly demanding in offices.
Resimercial design can bring a light-hearted, friendliness into a workplace and powerhouse companies including the likes of Microsoft, Google, Uber, and Airbnb are investing in resimercial design to increase employee retention, productivity, and creativity.
At Axis House we endorse the home away from home philosophy and we’re excited to see what the future for Resimercial Design holds – the design team here are looking forward to using it more and more…
