A major player in the life sciences market, Scienion had a number of UK operations in different locations that it wanted to bring together under one roof.
By consolidating their laboratory, manufacturing and support functions, the aim was to encourage employees and field staff to work more collaboratively while attracting new talent to the business.
With highly technical laboratory requirements, the Scienion team needed a specialist healthcare fit-out contractor with appropriate expertise and experience.
AXIS House was selected because of our specialist knowledge of laboratory and clean room projects, as well as our ability to provide a comprehensive, end-to-end design and build service.

Bringing together laboratory, support and manufacturing operations, Scienion’s future-proof workplace has a streamlined, cohesive visual identity while providing all the high-tech functionality the team needs.
We stripped back the 12,000 sq ft unit to shell and core before creating the new fit-out which incorporated high-specification laboratories, hot desking, a reception area, meeting rooms, privacy pods, a specialist write-up space for documentation work, and a kitchen/break-out area.
Our team managed the careful coordination of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and data cabling works to support the complex laboratory and office requirements. We also installed a HEPA air filtration system for the labs, creating a new suspended ceiling and accommodating an ISO 5 clean room.

When it’s time to step away from the lab bench and grab a coffee, the breakout area we designed is an inviting place to go.
Stone and wood tones create a welcome contrast to the predominantly white palette, and bright accent colours on the chairs add warmth and personality.
