Part of the Specsavers group, Newmedica is a leading UK ophthalmology provider expanding its national footprint. A newly leased Bristol site created an opportunity to establish a combined clinical and training facility.
The original, Cat-A office required full conversion into a clinical environment at pace. With patient appointments already scheduled, the project demanded a high-quality outcome delivered to a fixed opening date.
Axis House delivered the project to a high standard, opening to patients on schedule with a high-quality finish that was extremely well received. The pre-contract phase was fast paced with the entire team working well to achieve the required approvals. Site and contracts management, as well as general delivery of the project was excellent.

AxisHouse delivered a full turnkey solution, stripping the building back to shell and rebuilding it as a fully operational ophthalmology centre. Working closely with Newmedica from a fast-paced pre-contract phase through to completion, the team coordinated design, approvals and construction to meet landlord, local authority and client requirements.
Detailed design, M&E and drainage strategies supported the specialist needs of operating theatres, treatment rooms and patient areas. Throughout, a focus on upgraded specifications improved durability and long-term performance, while disciplined project management ensured delivery aligned precisely with the clinic’s opening schedule.
A fast-paced pre-contract and delivery programme ensured the project met all approval stages and was completed in line with the planned opening date, enabling immediate patient services.
The completed facility was extremely well received, reflecting a clear uplift in finish and specification, designed to make it easier and more efficient to maintain over the long term.
An on-site training facility was integrated into the upper level, alongside staff offices and breakout areas. Fully equipped with AV technology, the space enables Newmedica to onboard franchisees, clinicians and teams within a purpose-built environment.
