Cat A & B Fit-out

Brief

Following successful fit-out and refurbishment works for their manufacturing and R&D facilities in Hampshire, CooperVision engaged Axis House to transform an under-utilised mezzanine storage area into an office space for their brand-new OneVision IT department.

The department required a dedicated space where they could work together on a key development project. The office design also needed to be flexible to allow for further space planning after the project completes.

Solution

Working to architect plans, Axis House undertook Cat A and Cat B works in the 2500 sq ft space; installing large windows for natural light, as well as a suspended ceiling, flooring, and mechanical and electrical services to create a bright open space.

An open-plan layout with glazed meeting rooms help facilitate teamwork and enable close collaboration. This also avoids using costly, inflexible partitioning that would need dismantling at a later stage.

The office design also incorporates three relocatable acoustic meeting pods. Each compact pod provides a sound-proof private meeting space for up to four people.

Inside, a motion-sensor air circulation system, dimmable LED lighting and an electric module cater for all user needs. These pods are a great alternative to traditional partitioned meeting rooms. As they are not part of the fabric of the building they can be repositioned as required to provide you with flexibility in future space planning.

Taking time to understand the fit-out requirements and aims is key to project success. By working closely with the client and the architect, Axis House delivered a cost-effective solution to meet both the short-term needs of the team and the long-term plans for the business.
