Brief

Cobham Mission Systems (Now part of the Eaton Portfolio) is the world’s leading supplier of critical control solutions, helping their customers increase the safety and mission capabilities of personnel and equipment in extreme environments. The business provides proven and trusted solutions to military and commercial clients which include life support, space propulsion, weapons carriage, and missile actuation.

When a key area of the firm’s UK office facilities in Wimborne were due for a refurbishment the facilities management operator CBRE went out to tender to find a firm that could deliver a comprehensive refit. CMS had already specified what was needed for this critical space which housed 60 staff and welcomed many more who used the meeting facilities and boardroom suites.

We were invited to interview and both CBRE and CMS were impressed with our proposals, our presentation and our 3D rendering of the space which was used to illustrate our approach. They were very excited to work with us on this project.

Solution

Most of the work was a combination of light-touch refurbishment and upgraded technology, together with designing and developing new internal spaces to deliver a better workplace and enhance the visitor experience for internal and external colleagues attending meetings.

The project included installation of all new electrical and communications infrastructure and new flooring, decoration, and wall murals. Once this work was complete, we then moved on to refurbishing meeting rooms, boardrooms, and offices, as well as creating new collaborative spaces, waiting areas and a kitchenette.

Although the CMS team had already developed the overall space plan, we developed the finer details and design ideas, selling our proposals into the business and then procuring the furniture, graphics and planting required to turn this vision into a reality.

We worked closely with CBRE, who project managed the costs and timelines for the project, which was completed in eight weeks. All project stakeholders were very pleased with the finished result, and visitors and senior directors have been impressed with the final quality of the finished space.

“We were very pleased with the end result and how Axis House worked with us to meet the project deadlines.”
